Air Quality Internship | FCS

The Tone:
This is a paid internship at FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS), an ADEC Innovation, available in a remote or hybrid working environment. FCS is dedicated to improving the world by enhancing the lives of its clients, partners, and colleagues through environmental solutions. This role is crucial for assisting the Air Quality team in performing essential analyses, research, and documentation support across air quality, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and energy. Through this position, the intern will gain practical knowledge of environmental rules and regulations, and exposure to industry-standard modeling tools like CalEEMod, AERMOD, HARP, and EMFAC.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide comprehensive support to Project Managers and Senior Air Quality Scientists by conducting research, collecting data, and completing various project-related tasks.
• Assist: Aid in the thorough review of project information, site plans, and supporting documents to accurately identify necessary data for environmental and technical analyses.
• Prepare: Contribute to the creation, meticulous editing, and quality review of technical reports, memoranda, air quality and GHG emissions estimates, modeling outputs, and other project deliverables.
• Manage: Help compile, organize, and systematically manage project data, technical information, and supporting documentation utilized in air quality/GHG and related environmental studies.
• Coordinate: Liaise with project team members to efficiently gather, track, and verify information essential for supporting project analyses and deliverables, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Planning, Geography, or a related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated understanding of one or more environmental specialties, such as land use, socio-economics, earth resources, hydrology, air, or noise.
• Skills: Strong command of written and verbal business English, including spelling and grammar; keen attention to detail; professional demeanor with discretion; efficient written and oral communication skills; and effective research and technical writing abilities.
