The Tone:
This is a part-time, unpaid internship at Highland Film Group & The Avenue, located in Los Angeles, CA, with a remote option. Highland Film Group is an independent worldwide sales, film financing, production, and distribution company, known for handling high-octane action/thriller/horror films. Its US distribution division, The Avenue, focuses on innovative marketing and strategic distribution for the domestic market. This role offers hands-on experience across various film marketing, distribution, acquisitions, and global sales workflows, providing insight into how films are discovered, evaluated, marketed, and positioned for buyers around the world.

• Team: Collaborates across Highland Film Group’s global Sales, Marketing, and Acquisitions division and The Avenue’s Marketing & Distribution team.
• Mission: Support day-to-day operations and gain practical experience in film discovery, evaluation, marketing, and global positioning.
• Tech Stack: MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Creative Cloud Apps (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects), Mailchimp
What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist: in script coverage, acquisitions research, slate tracking, and competitive analysis for global and domestic projects.
• Support: global sales executives with buyer outreach, market preparation, managing availabilities, and organizing sales assets.
• Help: develop marketing materials including social content, trailers, key art, and synopses for both international and domestic releases.
• Conduct: data and audience research to inform domestic distribution and global sales strategies.
• Coordinate: industry events such as screenings, film markets (AFM, EFM, Cannes), junkets, and premieres.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in college courses or a graduate from an accredited United States college.
• Experience: Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and eligible for unrestricted work authorization within the United States.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, strong verbal and written communication skills, and effective multitasking and organizational abilities.
• Bonus: Prior experience in the movie industry, proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Apps (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects) for marketing roles, familiarity with Mailchimp email builds, and a passion for movies or the entertainment industry.
