Internship – Student Data Analyst | State of Colorado

This is a non-employee internship position at the State of Colorado, specifically within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), with hybrid workplace options available in Denver, CO. • Mission: Support the development of an internal data dashboard for the Colorado Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program through a capstone-style analytics project.
• Tech Stack: R, Tableau
What You’ll Actually Do
• Create: A fully functional Tableau dashboard for internal use, including interactive charts, filters, and summary metrics.
• Document: Data sources, workflow processes, dashboard functionality, and instructions for future maintenance or enhancements.
• Present: A final presentation or demonstration of the dashboard and key findings to internal stakeholders.
• Analyze: Organizational data using R for cleaning, analysis, and preparation.
• Design: Interactive dashboards for internal stakeholders using Tableau.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student or recent graduate (past 3 years from June 2023 – Present) enrolled in or completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, public health, or other related disciplines.
• Experience: Analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data; data visualization; intermediate experience with R; experience with Tableau or other data visualization software.
• Skills: Analytical/Assessment, Communication, Interprofessional Practice, good organizational skills.
