• Mission: This person ensures the daily care and health of dairy goats and supports the production of small-scale dairy products.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Animal Care: Provide daily hands-on care for dairy goats, including feeding, watering, and monitoring herd health.
• Milking Support: Assist with established milking routines for the dairy goat herd.
• Dairy Product Handling: Support the processing and handling of goat dairy products, ensuring adherence to food safety and quality standards.
• Farm Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of barns and pens according to farm protocols.
• Visitor Interaction: Engage with visitors and customers to explain farm practices and products as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A strong interest in dairy operations, including goat care and handling, and basic knowledge of dairy products.
• Experience: No specific prior experience required; training is provided.
• Skills:
• Customer service mindset with customer satisfaction skills
• Attention to detail in quality control, hygiene, and product consistency standards
• Familiarity with food handling and basic food safety practices, or willingness to be trained
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and reliability in following schedules and procedures
• Bonus: Prior farm, animal care, or agricultural experience.
