Pharmacy Intern | Family Fare Supermarkets

The Tone:
This is an internship at Family Fare Supermarkets, located in Litchfield, Minnesota. This role is essential for supporting licensed pharmacists by ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescribed medication and other healthcare products, directly contributing to patient care and the creation of braggingly happy customers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Medication Management: Accurately and efficiently dispense prescribed medication and other healthcare products to patients, working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure safety and compliance.
• Customer & Clinic Communications: Professionally and courteously manage incoming prescription and refill requests from customers and clinics, prioritizing patient needs and providing excellent service.
• Product Preparation & Handling: Perform precise tasks such as retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, mixing, packing, and labeling products, strictly adhering to established pharmacy procedures.
• Administrative & Transactional Duties: Maintain detailed customer profiles, meticulously prepare insurance forms, and accurately operate the cash register to process payments and complete all related checkout procedures in a timely manner.
• Inventory & Environmental Standards: Responsibly stock and take inventory of department merchandise, assist with automation functions, and ensure the work area is clean, well-stocked, and compliant with all company standards for department upkeep and product handling.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates for this internship must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and hold a current Certified Pharmacy Technician credential.
• Experience: Requires a foundational understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, alongside knowledge of relevant pharmacy laws, rules, and guidelines. Demonstrated working knowledge of pharmacy terminology and a comprehensive understanding of various insurance plans are essential.
• Skills: Strong capabilities in both written and verbal communication are necessary for clear and effective interactions. Essential skills include providing good customer service, proficient multi-tasking, excellent organization, keen attention to detail, and effective problem-solving, all crucial for managing a pharmacy environment.
