Case Assistant – Trademark, Copyright, and Media | DLA Piper
The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at DLA Piper, located in Washington, DC. DLA Piper is a global law firm built on principles of being bold, exceptional, collaborative, and supportive. This role is crucial in supporting the firm’s strategic initiatives by providing essential administrative and case support to paralegals and attorneys within the specialized Trademark, Copyright, and Media group. The work performed ensures the smooth operation and organization of complex legal matters, contributing directly to client service and firm efficiency.

• Team: Assists paralegals and/or attorneys in the Trademark, Copyright, and Media group
• Mission: To maintain case files, prepare documents, and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of legal matters.
• Tech Stack: Word, Excel, Outlook, Database
What You’ll Actually Do
• Organize: Document production for attorney review, ensuring materials are ready and accessible.
• Research: Public records using various public websites to gather necessary information.
• Prepare: A variety of documents including forms, charts, and letters, as well as compiling cases and exhibits for briefs.
• Maintain: Comprehensive case files, binders, and databases through accurate data entry and organization.
• Obtain: Essential documents and information from cities, municipalities, public agencies, and internal accounting/timekeeping departments for legal and audit letter responses.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High School diploma or GED. Supports legal professionals specializing in trademark, copyright, and media matters.
• Experience: 1 year of demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.
• Skills: Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and database experience; Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with legal staff and clients; Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills to manage high volumes of documents; Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s Degree; Prior office experience within a law firm environment supporting paralegals or attorneys.
