Facilities Associate | REI
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at REI, located in a Distribution Center. • Mission: Ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetic work environment for all employees by managing recyclable and non-recyclable materials, performing general housekeeping, and supporting additional facility functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Material Management: Efficiently sort, transport, and properly dispose of both recyclable and non-recyclable materials. This involves moving materials from pre-determined main floor accumulation points throughout the facility to the appropriate conveyor systems, compactors, and/or dock doors, ensuring the distribution center remains orderly and compliant with waste management protocols.
• Carton Processing: Systematically sort, stage, and palletize recyclable cartons. This process is crucial for ease of storage, efficient retrieval, and subsequent reuse of materials for various building operations, contributing to sustainable practices.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate a range of powered equipment, including sweepers, scrubbers, and other tools, to perform routine and special housekeeping functions. This ensures the facility’s cleanliness and actively contributes to maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
• Facility Support: Provide direct support for facility functions by setting up and taking down conference rooms as requested. This involves arranging furniture and equipment to accommodate meetings and events, ensuring spaces are prepared and returned to their original state.
• Operational Coordination: Conduct daily tie-in information sessions with the oncoming shift, utilizing established reporting formats to ensure seamless transitions. Additionally, identify, respond to, and communicate emergent support functions to the Facility team, ensuring continuous high levels of service for recycling, housekeeping, and floor support.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level career experience, demonstrating an understanding of warehouse operations, safety protocols, and general maintenance functions.
• Experience: 0+ years operating warehouse powered equipment, including lift trucks, pallet jacks, sweeper/scrubber, conveyors, powered hand tools, and compactors. Additionally, 0+ years operating computers to communicate and facilitate information sharing through established reporting formats.
• Skills: Adherence to current safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protection equipment (PPE) and safe lifting techniques. Ability to function independently and efficiently across a variety of warehouse tasks, maintaining schedules and routines.
• Bonus: A collaborative approach, actively participating with team members and across REI to achieve business goals. Flexibility in viewpoints and positions to support the overall direction taken by others at REI.
