Software Intern Fall 2026 | Rocket Lab
The Tone:
This is an internship at Rocket Lab, located in Albuquerque, NM. Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company dedicated to opening access to space through responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design, manufacturing, and satellite components. The rockets and satellites built enable vital space missions, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate change combat, and national security. This role is crucial for contributing to projects that enhance operational efficiency and support the mission-critical activities of Rocket Lab’s space-grade solar manufacturing site, specifically through web application development.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaboration: Work closely with mentors and other employees to apply technical knowledge and develop professional skills.
• Problem Solving: Engage with engineering professionals to apply industry concepts in solving real-world challenges.
• Learning & Development: Participate in one-on-one meetings with supervisors and mentors to track progress and facilitate continuous learning.
• Networking: Attend tech talks and professional networking events with other interns and employees.
• Project Contribution: Contribute to the development and maintenance of web applications that enhance operational efficiency and support mission-critical activities for a solar manufacturing site.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree program in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering, with at least one semester of school remaining post-internship. A GPA of 3.0 or above is required.
• Experience: Possess 3+ months of applied engineering experience, which can include internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Skills: Demonstrated understanding of software development principles, basic programming concepts, and an aptitude for problem-solving in an engineering context.
• Bonus: A GPA of 3.5 or above; 6+ months of applied engineering experience; experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Svelte; experience with testing, debugging, and code reviews; and an understanding of version control systems such as Git.
