The Tone:

This is a vital support staff role, situated directly within the school’s health clinic in Atlanta, GA. The Clinic Assistant is instrumental in maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of the student body by supporting the daily operations of the clinic. This position plays a critical role in addressing immediate student health needs, ensuring timely communication with parents and administrators, and providing essential first aid, thereby contributing significantly to a positive and secure educational experience for every student.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Clinic Oversight: Oversee the daily operations and environment of the school health clinic, ensuring a smooth and organized workflow under the direction of the school administration.
• Student Monitoring: Provide diligent supervision and care for students who are experiencing illness or have sustained an injury while they are resting or awaiting pickup in the school health clinic.
• Communication: Establish and maintain appropriate, clear communication with both school administrators and parents regarding the status and needs of students who have been sent to the school health clinic for care.
• First Aid Administration: Administer essential basic first aid procedures as needed for students, utilizing appropriate techniques and ensuring immediate care for minor injuries or ailments.
• Meeting Attendance: Actively participate in required pre-service and ongoing professional development meetings to stay current with health protocols and school policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Additionally, successful completion of a health or equivalent course in basic first aid and CPR certification is a mandatory requirement for this role.
• Experience: While no specific years of prior experience are formally required, the ideal candidate will have some experience working directly with children in a professional or volunteer capacity, which is highly preferred for this role.
• Skills: This position requires a solid knowledge base of appropriate techniques to administer basic first aid. Essential abilities include effectively collaborating with administration to achieve program objectives, exercising discretion in handling confidential student information, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail, and exhibiting strong task-oriented work habits. The role also demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with students, staff, and parents.
• Bonus: Some prior experience working directly with children is considered a strong asset for this role.
