Housekeeper – Environmental Services Technician | Wellstar Health System

• Mission: Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant environment within various hospital specialty areas, contributing to patient well-being and operational efficiency through meticulous cleaning and waste management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Safety & Infection Prevention: Perform comprehensive cleaning protocols for restrooms and patient rooms, adapting to specific needs such as regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning, while adhering to infection prevention guidelines and selecting appropriate chemicals.
• Specialty Area Maintenance: Ensure compliance standards are maintained during the cleaning of hospital specialty areas, including Operating Room Suites, CATH Labs, GI Labs, VARU, Pharmacy Compounding Lab, Vascular, and Labor and Delivery Suites.
• Waste Stream Management: Execute the proper removal, placement, and transport of various waste types, including solid, chemotherapy, bio-hazard, pharmaceutical, and hot waste, along with recyclables and regulated materials, following strict waste stream guidelines.
• Equipment & PPE Use: Operate and ensure the proper and safe use of Ultra Violet Light devices and consistently use correct personal protective equipment (PPE), including proper donning and doffing techniques, to ensure personal and collective safety.
• Customer Service & Documentation: Exhibit a positive disposition and practice excellent customer service skills when interacting with staff, patients, patient family members, and guests, while also documenting daily assignments and using the Epic system for bed flow management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level role focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant healthcare environment within an integrated health system.
• Experience: Some experience in a housekeeping or environmental services role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Skills: Ability to speak fluent English, read, write, and understand simple instructions in English; strong customer service and interpersonal skills; capacity to complete the Departmental Training Program satisfactorily within the first thirty days of employment.
• Bonus: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
