Incoming Inspector | Garmin

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Garmin, located in Salem, OR. Garmin develops products for aviation and consumer markets. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality of all incoming materials, which directly supports the production of our aviation and consumer products by verifying the conformance of parts and sub-assemblies.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Mon – Fri 7:00am-3:30pm
• Location: In-person, Salem, OR

• Mission: Process and inspect incoming materials to ensure they conform to specifications, supporting Garmin’s aviation and consumer businesses.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Validation: Conduct validations on incoming parts, assemblies, and finished products against Garmin specifications and inspection guidelines using calibrated tools.
• Documentation: Generate accurate quality and inventory records by utilizing basic Garmin systems.
• Reporting: Identify non-conforming material and initiate reports to facilitate proper material review and disposition.
• Collaboration: Work with senior team members to identify and escalate undesirable or inaccurate parameter measurements.
• Compliance: Understand Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and their implications for inspection activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to apply processes and methods for verifying the conformance of parts and sub-assemblies, and ability to operate basic equipment.
• Skills: Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel; high degree of dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small, delicate parts; visual acuity to distinguish colors (Red-Green-Blue) and shades of gray; ability to lift up to 55 pounds using safe lifting techniques; and adherence to cleanliness zone area requirements, including wearing Garmin-provided SD shoes for ESD protection.
• Bonus: Experience with electronic assembly or electronic system test/repair, which provides knowledge of component function, style, and handling precautions.
