Surveillance Investigator I – Entry Level | Command Investigations
The Tone:
This is an entry-level, field-based role at Command Investigations, requiring travel and potential overnight stays. • Mission: Conduct field surveillance to observe, track, and document subjects’ activities, gathering video evidence and preparing reports for client review.
• Tech Stack: Digital camcorder with date/time stamp, covert camera, tripod/monopod, laptop with Microsoft Word, smartphone, web-based technology, investigative software
What You’ll Actually Do
• Surveillance Execution: Actively monitor, track, and record subjects during daily activities in various environments, including public spaces, events, and workplaces.
• Discreet Operations: Execute both vehicular and on-foot surveillance, maintaining complete cover and discretion to avoid detection.
• Investigative Planning & Documentation: Develop and implement pre-surveillance plans tailored to each case, and meticulously record all findings through detailed video and comprehensive written reports.
• Timely Reporting & Communication: Communicate observations and strategy with team leaders, and ensure all comprehensive reports and video evidence are submitted within required timeframes.
• Professional Conduct: Uphold safety standards, adhere to all legal and ethical requirements, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism during surveillance operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent required, demonstrating proficient reading skills and the ability to follow directions.
• Experience: 0-1 years of experience required; must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license, clean DMV record, and personal auto insurance with 100k/300k/100k liability limits. Must be willing to travel and work variable schedules, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and early mornings starting as early as 3:00 AM.
• Skills: Highly observant, detail-oriented, with excellent judgment and situational awareness; strong written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated, reliable, adaptable to changing environments, with the ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
• Bonus: College degree preferred; prior investigative experience is a plus.
