Foreign Trade Analyst | MAHLE

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at MAHLE, focused on ensuring stringent adherence to customs and export control laws and regulations across all daily operations. The Foreign Trade Analyst/Sr. Analyst will play a critical part in upholding all internal guidelines and established procedures. This position is essential for supporting MAHLE’s global manufacturing and operational integrity, safeguarding the company from potential compliance risks and facilitating efficient, lawful international trade practices. Your contributions will directly impact MAHLE’s ability to operate seamlessly across various international markets.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, supporting MAHLE’s regional operations

• Mission: Ensure MAHLE’s compliance with customs and export control laws and regulations, minimizing costs and standardizing foreign trade processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
Customs Operations: Manage all custom-related activities across designated countries, ensuring compliance at the lowest lawful cost through precise import/export filing, tariff classification, origin determination, and preferential calculations.
Export Control Implementation: Execute and maintain compliant export control processes for MAHLE’s regional operations, including sanctioned party list screening, embargo country checks, product classification, and critical end-usage verification.
Regulatory Expertise & Guidance: Stay informed on international trade process changes, providing essential guidance and consultation to internal customers, business areas, and project teams regarding custom affairs.
Process Optimization: Identify and recommend continuous improvements for business processes, exploring cost reduction potentials through function transfers and standardizing foreign trade practices across the region.
Stakeholder Liaison: Monitor custom brokers and service providers, coordinate governmental regulations, ensure cross-functional alignment, and act as a primary contact for local plants, export control officers, and chief export control officers, also participating in external audit processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent experience. This role requires a broad understanding of foreign trade and customs principles.
• Experience: Minimum of 0+ years for an Entry Level position, 3+ years for an Intermediate Level, or 7+ years for a Senior Level, demonstrating previous or related experience in foreign trade or customs compliance activities.
• Skills: Proven ability to identify and solve problems effectively, work independently within deadlines with high attention to detail, strong business acumen, and the capacity to influence and build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations, and advanced computer skills, especially with MS Office.
