Postal Services Assistant | Inside Higher Ed
The Tone:
This is a full-time, regular role at Georgia Southern University, located in Statesboro, Georgia. Georgia Southern University is a large and comprehensive center for higher education in southeast Georgia, offering numerous degree programs and serving a diverse student body. This role is crucial in supporting the daily operations of the university’s Campus Postal Services, ensuring that essential printing and mailing functions run smoothly for all university constituents and the public.

• Mission: To facilitate efficient and accurate handling of all university printing requests, mail, and packages while providing excellent customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Printing Services: Receive, review, prioritize, and complete printing requests, ensuring prompt delivery of all printing orders to the University and the public.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the setup, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of copy and print equipment, requesting vendor maintenance services when necessary.
• Customer Relations: Provide postal services related functions, including cashiering, communicating via phone and email, resolving customer printing and postal issues, and referring customers to appropriate campus resources.
• Mail Distribution: Pick up, receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages for all university constituents across the campuses.
• Supply Management: Inventory supplies and generate restocking requests to ensure the continuous availability of necessary materials for printing and postal operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One (1) or more years of related work experience.
• Skills: Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, human relations skills, proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases), and the ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
