Environmental Organizing Associate | Green Corps

The Tone:
This is a yearlong, paid training program at Green Corps, requiring geographical flexibility across the United States. Green Corps builds the country’s most respected training program for environmental organizers, providing field support for critical environmental campaigns. This role matters because it offers individuals the training and experience to kickstart an organizing career, making an immediate impact on pressing environmental issues from climate change to clean water.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $39500–$44450 yearly
• Mission: This person will gain the training and experience needed to launch an organizing career and make an immediate impact on critical environmental issues.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Classroom Instruction: Receive eight weeks of classroom training to learn the theory and skills of environmental organizing.
• Campaign Leadership: Run three to five environmental campaigns throughout the year on a range of issues in multiple locations across the United States.
• Office Management: Operate a grassroots canvass office for the final campaign of the year, including hiring and managing canvass staff.
• Public Engagement: Educate the public, build support, sign up members, and fundraise for top environmental and public interest organizations.
• Career Launch: Gain the skills and experiences needed to launch an organizing career in the environmental and social change movements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career individual with an interest in dedicating their career to environmental work; no previous organizing experience is required for this training program.
• Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience on campus or in your community.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and working with others one-on-one and in a group; strong work ethic and dedication to goals; flexibility to adjust plans when campaigns change.
• Bonus: A passion for protecting the environment; excitement to dedicate a year to learning how to be an organizer, including working on multiple campaigns with different partners and in different locations.
