About the Role
This posting is for an intern pool, not an active recruitment, providing supervised work experience to current undergraduate or graduate students in various professional vocations within County departments. Interns receive in-service training by participating in actual duties and responsibilities assigned to professional employees, with selections made from this pool based on interest, education, and departmental needs.
What You’ll Do
• Assist and participate in the day-to-day assigned work of professional employees.
• Assist and participate in special research, studies, surveys, and investigations.
• Assist and participate in the compilation, tabulation, and analysis of information and data.
• Assist and participate in the preparation of briefs, reports, evaluations, specifications, and plans.
• Attend divisional and departmental staff meetings; prepare reports of suggestions and comments of observations regarding the various aspects of the department and program.
• May perform sub-professional assignments in support of professional staff.
You’re a Good Fit If You
• Have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 (proof required at time of application).
• Are currently enrolled in, or recently graduated (within one year) from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited college or university in a program relevant to the specific internship.
• May be required to be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school program for some positions.
• Have knowledge of the goals and functions of the specific profession to which assigned.
• Have knowledge of the use of computer hardware and software as needed to accurately perform duties.
• Are able to take direction and supervision.
• Are able to benefit and learn rapidly from on-the-job training.
• Are able to think logically and write clearly and concisely.
• Are able to compile data, perform arithmetical computations, analyze statistical data, and prepare reports.
• Are able to learn to operate and use specialized equipment.
• Are able to maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.
• Are legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
Role Highlights & Compensation
• All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements including a criminal background investigation (fingerprinting) and potentially a physical examination and background check.
• Employees are subject to probationary period provisions as specified in applicable agreements or ordinances.
• Current County of Riverside and/or current employees of the hiring department may receive priority consideration.
• Qualified candidates may be considered for future County vacancies.
