The Tone:

Retrofête seeks a designer to contribute to the unique prints and patterns that define its ready-to-wear pieces. This role offers aspiring designers an immersive learning experience within a high-fashion environment, providing direct exposure to shaping the aesthetic identity of the brand. The intern will bring creative ideas to life, gaining insights into the operational complexities of an in-house fashion design team from initial concept to final execution.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop original print and graphic designs specifically for Retrofête’s ready-to-wear collections, ensuring rigorous alignment with brand guidelines and upholding stringent quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with the broader design team to address and resolve a diverse range of design challenges and projects.
• Contribute across various stages of the design and production workflows, gaining a holistic understanding of the product lifecycle within a luxury fashion brand.
• Assist in refining and documenting best practices for the print design role and related processes to enhance team efficiency.
• Provide regular updates on design progress, encountered challenges, and key insights directly to the Head Designer.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from a program in fashion design, graphic design, or a related creative field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of design principles.
• Experience: No prior professional years of experience required; candidates should possess a genuine eagerness to apply classroom knowledge and contribute hands-on to actual fashion collections.
• Skills: Possesses a strong eye for color theory, proportion, and sophisticated print/pattern design, essential for Retrofête’s aesthetic. Highly organized and capable of thriving in a demanding creative environment, managing multiple tasks effectively. Collaborative and communicative, demonstrating a genuine eagerness to learn and contribute within a professional team setting. Exhibits meticulous attention to detail, coupled with strong problem-solving instincts for design challenges. Capable of working effectively both independently on assigned tasks and seamlessly as an integrated member of a team.
