Role Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team in a full-time, on-site role based in the Castroville, Texas Area. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong analytical mindset and a commitment to accuracy to grow their career within the metal fabrication industry.
The Junior Estimator will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, contributing significantly to our ability to deliver competitive and precise proposals. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing project requirements from initial client inquiries and project specifications.
- Preparing comprehensive cost estimates for metal bar joist fabrication and customized solutions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reviewing and meticulously interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and other design documents to understand project scope and material needs.
- Collaborating closely with project managers, engineering teams, and steel fabricators to gather essential information and ensure alignment on project scope and feasibility.
- Gathering and inputting material costs, labor estimates, and project timelines into estimation software and tools.
- Ensuring accuracy in all project proposals, bids, and supporting documentation.
- Assisting in the preparation and submission of bids and proposals to clients.
- Maintaining an organized record of all estimates, revisions, and project documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on every project. You will be instrumental in supporting our sales and operations teams by providing timely and accurate cost data.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, understanding symbols, dimensions, and fabrication details.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools (specific software experience a plus, but adaptability is key), as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), particularly advanced Excel skills for data analysis and calculations.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with internal teams (project managers, engineering, fabrication shop personnel) and potentially external clients or suppliers.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of construction or metal fabrication industry processes and materials (e.g., types of steel, welding processes, common fabrication methods) is desired but not strictly required. A strong desire to learn will be highly valued.
