What You’ll Actually Do
• Patrol designated areas of the city to deter crime, enforce traffic ordinances, and respond to incidents.
• Investigate crimes and accidents, administering emergency first aid, gathering evidence, and making arrests as needed.
• Issue citations for violations of city ordinances and state statutes, serving arrest warrants, and securing arrested persons.
• Respond to reports of possible crime, securing scenes, interviewing victims and witnesses, and completing incident reports.
• Assist citizens with inquiries or complaints, investigate disputes, and provide information on laws and ordinances.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from high school or an equivalent GED certificate. Early Career.
• Experience: Preference given to those with previous experience in law enforcement or a basic DPSST certificate.
• Skills: Skill in analyzing situations quickly and objectively; Skill in reading and understanding laws, ordinances, rules and regulations; Skill in communicating clearly, verbally and in writing; Skill in the use of computers.
• Bonus: College-level law enforcement coursework.
