Summer 2026 Environmental Technician Intern – Miami/South Florida | Intertek

The Tone:

Intertek is a global leader in Quality Assurance, with a Building and Construction division that provides product and project solutions. This role is an opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience within the environmental and industrial hygiene consulting sector, supporting Intertek’s mission to act as a crucial risk management and quality assurance partner.

The TL;DR

• Team: Building and Construction division, specifically the Professional Service Industries (PSI) team.
• Mission: Support a variety of environmental and industrial hygiene projects, contributing to quality, safety, and performance for new developments and existing assets.
• Tech Stack: GIS, Trimble units

What You’ll Actually Do
• Environmental Surveys: Assist with comprehensive asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold surveys across various project sites.
• Abatement Monitoring: Support abatement monitoring activities and conduct clearance sampling to ensure project compliance and safety.
• Site Assessments: Contribute to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and aid in Phase II subsurface investigations and remedial site activities.
• Field Operations: Support field data collection efforts, assist with ecological sampling, and participate in the installation of environmental monitoring equipment.
• Documentation & Mapping: Document field activities and site conditions thoroughly, and assist with GIS-based field mapping using Trimble units.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and actively pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or another science-related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated good oral and written communication abilities, a valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record, and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Skills: Capability to assist with field data collection, equipment setup and calibration, and the physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including standing and walking for long periods.
• Bonus: HAZWOPER 40-hour OSHA certification or AHERA Inspector certification.
