Job Summary

Coilcraft, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role offers an invaluable opportunity for an active student currently enrolled in an accredited machinist program to gain practical, hands-on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools, producing precision components, and contributing to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. This position is ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude who are eager to apply their foundational knowledge in a professional manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various types of machine tools, including lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders, ensuring proper selection of feeds and speeds.
  • Fabricate components accurately based on drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Work diligently to close tolerances, ensuring high precision and quality in all manufactured parts.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to meticulously check the accuracy of work.
  • Perform essential hand operations such such as filing, fitting, and tapping.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is properly cared for.
  • Actively contribute to the promotion of a customer-focused culture throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations and team objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be an active student currently enrolled in a machinist program at an accredited college.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Possess basic mathematic skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • A strong commitment to safety in the workplace.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Some knowledge of precision measuring devices.
  • Some knowledge of reading blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings.
  • Some knowledge of Machine Shop practices.
