Plant Operations Technician | Casa Healthcare
The Tone:
This is a field-based position at Casa Healthcare, supporting six skilled nursing and two assisted living facilities across Lake County, Indiana. Casa Healthcare is dedicated to providing high-quality care environments for its residents. This role is crucial for ensuring that all facilities are consistently maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics, directly impacting the well-being of residents and staff.

What You’ll Actually Do
• System Oversight: Monitor the ongoing performance and ensure the safety of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across the facilities. This includes performing routine inspections to proactively identify potential issues and ensure optimal functionality.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system malfunctions, encompassing crucial units such as air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment. This also involves responding promptly to emergency situations to resolve critical issues.
• Maintenance & Documentation: Execute preventative maintenance tasks on various equipment and systems to extend their lifespan and efficiency. Maintain thorough records of all maintenance performed, repairs conducted, and system upgrades implemented.
• System Enhancement: Install new equipment and upgrade existing systems to improve facility operations and capabilities. This includes testing, installing, and maintaining essential safety systems, such as fire alarms and extinguishers.
• Strategic Input & Projects: Make informed recommendations for the repair or replacement of systems based on inspections and performance data. Actively assist with assigned capital improvement projects, contributing to long-term facility enhancements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with substantial experience in plant management, specifically within long-term care environments.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in plant management, with at least 3 years in a long-term care setting.
• Skills: Possess a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including specific expertise in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry; demonstrate the ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and to accurately read and understand technical diagrams and schematics; exhibit strong knowledge of state and federal regulations pertinent to facility operations, alongside comprehensive understanding and adherence to safety policies and procedures; apply excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex system issues; capable of performing a range of basic maintenance tasks such as painting, wallpapering, and drywall repair, in addition to other general repair activities; proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also possessing strong communication skills.
