Summer Communications Intern | Center City District

The Tone:
This is an internship at Center City District, located on-site in Philadelphia, PA. Center City District is Philadelphia’s first and largest business improvement district, dedicated to fostering community development and urban revitalization. Interns in this program work alongside industry professionals on high-impact projects that directly shape Center City and its future. This specific role contributes to creating a clean, safe, and thriving Center City Philadelphia that benefits the entire region by assisting the Communications Team in engaging diverse stakeholders and audiences through compelling digital content and promotional materials.

• Mission: Drive engagement with stakeholders, businesses, visitors, and job prospects by assisting the Communications Team in creating high-quality social media posts, newsletter content, blog articles, video, and promotional materials that serve as key touchpoints for all Center City District interactions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Gathering: Gather photo and video content for all aspects of Center City District, including on-street operations, parks, and events.
• Content Delivery: Deliver content for immediate use while building long-term capacity for future digital communications.
• Public Relations Support: Assist with public relations for various events and initiatives, as needed.
• Departmental Assistance: Support other tasks based upon departmental needs throughout the organization, as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current ambitious student interested in urban development, community revitalization, or communications. Career level: Early Career.
• Experience: Demonstrated foundational understanding or some practical experience in content creation for digital platforms such as social media, newsletters, or blogs. Experience in basic video content creation or editing is a plus.
• Skills: Strong ability to gather relevant photo and video content; excellent written communication skills for developing articles and promotional materials; a proactive approach to supporting public relations efforts.
