About the Job: Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Core Responsibilities
- Process engineering changes, contributing to product and process improvements.
- Participate actively in Continuous Improvement projects as part of a cross-functional team, identifying and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Engage in tool design activities, translating concepts into practical solutions for manufacturing.
- Conduct time studies on the production floor to analyze processes, identify bottlenecks, and optimize labor utilization.
- Assist in project management by creating milestones, developing project plans, and tracking progress.
- Perform data entry and updates in the ERP system, managing item cards, Bills of Material (BOM), and part routings to ensure accurate production information.
- Execute all assigned tasks in strict accordance with company Engineering policies and procedures.
- Complete dedicated internship projects, researching and analyzing findings, and presenting results to leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the engineering department.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, adapting to the pace and demands of a production setting.
- Ability to schedule and organize time and tasks effectively to meet project deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Strong CAD solid modeling knowledge (NX or Solidworks) for design and analysis tasks.
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and interpretation to accurately comprehend engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for precise part specification and quality control.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, turning, milling) to contribute effectively to process improvements.
- Working knowledge of Lean concepts (Toyota Production System) to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Basic understanding of part measuring techniques (calipers, micrometers, verniers, and indicators) for quality assurance and data collection.
- Ability to work with others within a cross-functional team, fostering collaboration and achieving common goals.
- Self-motivated and driven (take a project and run with it), demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to work.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering (Preferably Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering).
