District Overview – Kiewit Offshore Services

Kiewit Offshore Services is a dedicated district (or business unit) of Kiewit Corporation that specializes in building structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, just 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, our expansive 550-acre fabrication yard is home to 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees who work year-round. The projects undertaken by Kiewit Offshore Services demand significant equipment planning, detailed cost estimates and schedules, and an unyielding commitment to safety from all employees. Location

This internship position is based out of Ingleside, TX (Corpus Christi, TX area).

Responsibilities

  • Performing field engineering tasks, operational planning, and cost control.
  • Contributing to project scheduling, quantity tracking, and material procurement.
  • Assisting with contract administration, estimating, and supervision of field activities.
  • Executing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor technical problems arising during construction.
  • Maintaining essential records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
  • Participating in the planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments.
  • Investigating problems and/or reported incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities) and pricing of materials.
  • Working collaboratively with suppliers as required to facilitate the handling and expediting delivery of materials.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide range of climates and environments.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
