The Opportunity: Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML Platform

This is a pivotal role within our rapidly expanding AI/ML division. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting and implementing the core infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge AI products. You will work on challenging problems at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems, machine learning, and data engineering, contributing directly to the tools and services that accelerate our research and product development cycles. Your work will directly enable our teams to build, deploy, and manage AI models more efficiently and effectively, impacting critical business functions and customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and performant backend services and APIs for our AI/ML platform, utilizing modern cloud-native architectures.
• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Product Managers to translate research prototypes and innovative concepts into robust, production-ready systems.
• Build and maintain comprehensive MLOps infrastructure encompassing model training pipelines, deployment strategies, continuous monitoring, and experimentation frameworks.
• Optimize existing systems for performance, cost-efficiency, security, and maintainability, ensuring our platform can scale with demand.
• Contribute significantly to the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies, frameworks, and best practices that advance our platform capabilities.
• Actively participate in rigorous code reviews, in-depth technical design discussions, and provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across the platform, from infrastructure to application level, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Champion the principles of security, compliance, and data governance across all platform components and development processes.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive professional experience in backend software development, with a strong emphasis on building and operating scalable, distributed systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go) with a strong preference for Python in an AI/ML context.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, microservices architecture, and hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Extensive experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and designing/implementing robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with various data storage solutions (e.g., SQL/NoSQL databases, data lakes, object storage) and data modeling principles.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a steadfast commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-tested, and performant code.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Direct experience with prominent ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
• Familiarity and practical experience with MLOps tools and platforms (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Sagemaker, Azure ML, Vertex AI).
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka) for large-scale data processing.
• A solid understanding of core machine learning concepts, algorithms, and end-to-end ML development workflows.
• Prior experience working specifically on AI/ML platforms, infrastructure, or tooling teams.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal technical projects.
