About the Job: Associate Engineer – Water/Wastewater
CME Associates is seeking a motivated, early-career Associate Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater Engineering Department in East Brunswick, New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting critical municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with an experienced team.

Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000 / year
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Design & Drafting:
- Assist in the planning, design, and drafting of various water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Projects include water mains, sanitary sewers, pump stations, and associated appurtenances.
- Prepare detailed plans, profiles, sections, and calculations utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design software.
- Permitting & Regulatory Support:
- Support the preparation and submission of essential permit applications and technical documentation.
- Interface with local, state, and federal agencies, including the NJDEP.
- Ensure all designs rigorously comply with applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with Project Managers, Senior Engineers, Surveyors, and other internal disciplines to ensure successful project delivery from initial concept through construction completion.
- Actively participate in coordination meetings and assist in addressing comments from agencies and clients.
- Technical Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, technical memoranda, feasibility studies, and detailed design calculations.
- Provide robust technical support for project planning and execution phases.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
- Experience:
- 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Internship or co-op experience specifically in water, wastewater, or municipal engineering is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must.
- Familiarity with hydraulic or stormwater modeling software is considered a plus.
- Licensure:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required or the proven ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not mandatory for this role but is highly encouraged for long-term career development.
