The Tone:
This is a contract role at Varsity Tutors, located remotely across the nation (with some state exclusions). Varsity Tutors builds an advanced Live Learning Platform that leverages technology, AI, and learning science to create personalized learning experiences. This role is crucial for delivering customized instruction that helps students achieve their academic goals, deepen their understanding, and develop a passion for learning.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver personalized 1-on-1 online Pre-Calculus tutoring sessions to individual students or through instant requests.
• Guide: Lead students through advanced functions, analytic geometry, and complex problem-solving to prepare them for calculus concepts and AP examinations.
• Adapt: Customize teaching methods and curriculum awareness, using technology and visual aids, to meet individual learning styles and address common student challenges.
• Support: Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to enhance sessions with real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features.
• Engage: Cultivate a friendly and engaging learning environment, adapting explanations to various learning needs and fostering mathematical reasoning.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in Pre-Calculus, encompassing deep knowledge of advanced functions (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric) and proficiency in analytic geometry, including conic sections, parametric and polar equations, vectors, matrices, sequences and series, and limits.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to teach conceptually and guide students through problem-solving steps, analyzing function composition, inverses, and transformations. This includes experience with graphing complex functions, solving trigonometric equations, and understanding series convergence, while connecting precalculus to real-world applications.
• Skills: Strong capability to adapt instruction, utilizing graphing technology and visual representations to bridge algebra/trigonometry to calculus readiness. Excellent communication skills are required, along with an engaging teaching style that can adapt to different learning needs and effectively explain complex concepts using multiple approaches.
