What We Look For In a SAT Math Tutor

• Advanced Math Content Mastery: Deep knowledge of SAT Math topics including linear equations, systems, inequalities, algebraic expressions, quadratic functions, exponential growth, ratios and proportions, percentages, data interpretation, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and complex numbers. Ability to explain calculator-permitted versus no-calculator strategies and grid-in answer formatting for score maximization.
• Strategic Problem-Solving & Reasoning: Skilled at teaching multiple solution pathways, estimation techniques, and pattern recognition in SAT math questions. Guides students through word problem translation, equation setup, graph interpretation, and identifying fastest solution methods. Emphasizes strategic approach selection (plugging in numbers, backsolving, algebraic methods) and time management across 58 questions.
• Test Strategy & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with SAT Math question distribution, common traps (misreading questions, sign errors), and high-frequency topics. Adapts instruction through timed practice sections, error analysis, formula sheet creation, and targeted drills for weak areas. Requires minimum SAT Math score of 720 and proven track record helping students improve math subscores significantly.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
