What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliver Tutoring: Provide personalized, scheduled instruction to individual students and accept on-demand instant tutoring requests.
• Explain Concepts: Break down core linear algebra concepts including vector spaces, linear transformations, matrix operations, determinants, and singular value decomposition.
• Guide Problem-Solving: Direct students through complex procedures such as Gaussian elimination, matrix factorization, eigenvalue computation, and constructing orthonormal bases.
• Connect Applications: Emphasize the geometric interpretation of transformations and link linear algebra to real-world applications in computer graphics, machine learning, and quantum mechanics.
• Adapt Instruction: Adjust teaching methods to meet diverse student learning needs and utilize tools like matrix visualization software for better comprehension.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in linear algebra, covering vector spaces, linear transformations, matrix operations, eigenvalues, orthogonality, and singular value decomposition, suitable for teaching students from introductory to advanced undergraduate levels.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in breaking down complex linear algebra procedures and guiding students through problem-solving, including proofs like linear independence and applications like least squares approximation.
• Skills:
1. Deep conceptual understanding required to explain abstract vector space axioms, change of basis, and inner product spaces.
2. Ability to identify common student struggles and adapt instruction using multiple approaches to meet individual learning needs.
3. Strong communication skills coupled with a friendly and engaging teaching style.
4. Familiarity with common linear algebra curricula and typical student challenges (e.g., abstract vector spaces, large determinants).
• Bonus: Capability to prepare students for applications in data science, engineering, and advanced mathematics, and aptitude for using matrix visualization software (MATLAB, Python).
