HSPT Math Tutor | Varsity Tutors

The Tone:
This is a contract role at Varsity Tutors, located remotely. Varsity Tutors aims to transform the way people learn by leveraging advanced technology, AI, and the latest in learning science to create personalized learning experiences. As an HSPT Math Tutor on the platform, you will provide customized instruction to students, making a real impact on their scores and overall test readiness for Catholic high school admission. Please note that Varsity Tutors does not contract in Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Puerto Rico.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring for the HSPT Mathematics section.
• Schedule: Set your own hours and determine your tutoring availability.
• Support: Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot for real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features.
• Logistical: Invoice for your tutoring sessions, with Varsity Tutors handling payment processing.
• Connect: Accept on-demand tutoring requests through Instant Tutoring whenever available.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of HSPT Mathematics section content, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, measurement, data interpretation, and quantitative reasoning for eighth-grade students seeking Catholic high school admission.
• Experience: Skilled at teaching efficient mental math techniques, estimation strategies, and systematic problem-solving approaches for HSPT Math, guiding students through multi-step word problems, geometric formulas, and data interpretation.
• Skills: Ability to explain number properties, fraction and decimal operations, basic algebraic equations, geometric formulas, and statistical concepts tested on the HSPT; strong communication skills with an engaging teaching style; ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
