Varsity Tutors builds a Live Learning Platform, leveraging advanced technology, AI, and learning science to create personalized learning experiences. This role is crucial for transforming how adult learners grasp mathematical concepts, helping them achieve academic success and pass the GED Math section.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized, 1-on-1 online instruction to individual students on GED Mathematical Reasoning content.
• Respond: Accept on-demand tutoring requests through Instant Tutoring whenever available.
• Explain: Clarify basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, geometry, data analysis, and quantitative problem solving using the TI-30XS calculator.
• Strategize: Teach strategic test-taking, calculator usage, word problem translation into mathematical expressions, and graph interpretation for the GED Math test.
• Adapt: Adapt instruction using diagnostic pretests, scaffolded skill progressions, and official GED practice materials to support adult learners.
• Invoice: Submit invoices for tutoring sessions, with Varsity Tutors handling payment processing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of GED Mathematical Reasoning content, including algebra, geometry, and data analysis, to prepare adult learners for credential completion.
• Experience: Skilled at teaching calculator usage, translating word problems, and interpreting graphs, with familiarity with GED Mathematical Reasoning content standards.
• Skills:
• Ability to explain material using multiple approaches and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills complemented by a friendly and engaging teaching style.
• Expertise in identifying common student struggles and employing effective teaching methods to address them.
• Proficiency in teaching concepts such as linear equations, slope and graphing, area and volume formulas, statistical reasoning, and the Pythagorean theorem.
