What You’ll Actually Do
• Teach Algebra 2: Deliver personalized online instruction in advanced Algebra 2 topics, including exponential, logarithmic, rational, and radical expressions, complex numbers, and sequences.
• Guide Problem Solving: Lead students through complex problem-solving for matrix operations, polynomial division, and statistical analysis, connecting abstract concepts to data science and financial mathematics.
• Tailor Instruction: Adapt teaching strategies and explanations using various approaches, technology graphing tools, real-world data, and scaffolded practice to meet diverse student learning styles and needs.
• Prepare Students: Equip students with the necessary skills and understanding for success in precalculus, AP Calculus, and standardized tests like the SAT/ACT mathematics sections.
• Process Payments: Invoice completed tutoring sessions, leveraging Varsity Tutors’ platform for flexible and reliable compensation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery across Algebra 2, encompassing advanced functions, complex numbers, sequences and series, conic sections, matrices, and probability, with the ability to explain function transformations, composition, inverses, and asymptotic behavior.
• Experience: Proven skill in conceptual teaching and problem-solving, demonstrated by breaking down complex topics like logarithmic properties, exponential growth/decay models, and polynomial division, while guiding students through matrix operations and binomial theorem applications.
• Skills:
1. Familiarity with Algebra 2 curricula and common student struggles, with the capacity to adapt explanations using technology graphing tools, real-world data sets, and scaffolded practice.
2. Effective teaching methods, including the ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with and explain material using multiple approaches.
3. Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style, coupled with the adaptability to different learning styles and student needs.
