Job Description

This is a detailed job description for an internship at Central San, a special district focused on wastewater services, recycled water production, and hazardous waste collection. This temporary, full-time position offers a practical work experience in a utility environment.

Internship Details

  • Employer: Central San
  • Services Provided: Wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal; recycled water production and distribution; household hazardous waste collection.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
  • Location: Onsite in Martinez.
  • Commitment: Six-month temporary position.
  • Start Date: June/July 2026.
  • End Date: December 2026/January 2027.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving history.
  • Must be a current student with junior or senior standing, OR a recent graduate (graduated within the past 12 months).

Operations Department Specifics

The intern will be placed within the Operations Department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the front desk with customers and employees in person, over the phone, and online.
  • Providing support to the Plant Maintenance and Plant Operations Divisions.
  • Scheduling meetings.
  • Helping with events.
  • Digitizing records.
  • Processing monthly reports.
  • Conducting industry research.
  • Performing other administrative duties as needed.
