The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Fairfield Police Department, located in Fairfield, CA. This critical role ensures the protection of life and property, maintains public order, and provides essential assistance to the community through a wide variety of sworn peace officer duties. What You’ll Actually Do
• Protect: Safeguard life and property within the Fairfield community.
• Maintain: Preserve order and peace, responding to a variety of situations.
• Assist: Provide support and resources to members of the public.
• Enforce: Perform law enforcement and crime prevention duties.
• Investigate: Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents, make arrests, and conduct investigations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a POST Academy Graduate, current, or qualifying former Police Officer. Requires an Associate’s degree or 60 semester units from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, business administration, public administration, or a related field; equivalent credit may be applied for military or peace officer service.
• Experience: For Lateral Police Officers, a minimum of one (1) year of full-time employment as a Peace Officer with a P.O.S.T. approved California law enforcement agency is required. No experience is required for Academy Graduates, though some law enforcement work is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in law enforcement principles, public safety protocols, effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and criminal investigation techniques. Must possess a valid Class C California State Driver’s License and a valid California POST Basic Police Academy Certificate (or proof of enrollment for Academy Graduates, Basic Certificate for Laterals).
• Bonus: Spanish-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply and may qualify for bilingual pay. Tuition reimbursement and educational incentives are available for advanced degrees and POST certificates.
