About the Job: Consumer Banking Management Internship

Program Summary
This position is part of the Summer Internship Program, which is scheduled to run from Wednesday, May 27th through Friday, July 31st. There is a potential for extension through mid-August, based on the decision of the hiring manager and department. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the program to ensure a consistent and meaningful learning experience.
The Consumer Banking Management internship is an integral part of the retail banking division, dedicated to supporting the company’s client relationships—a key function of the company’s primary business. This is a rotational career development program designed to provide interns with an immersive experience across various areas of a branch. The goal is to equip interns with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and lead a financial center. The rotational program will encompass responsibilities typical of a universal banker, certified relationship banker, operations officer, and branch manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training to understand and perform branch support activities, such as cashing checks, and disbursing funds after verification of signatures and sufficiency of funds.
- Accept deposits and confirm the accuracy of transactions.
- Identify opportunities to promote banking services.
- Balance all monies in cash drawers.
- Assist and observe the opening of new consumer and business accounts under the supervision of a certified relationship banker.
- Assist in resolving client challenges through direct personal interactions and referrals to appropriate staff members.
- Observe the opening and closing procedures of a branch.
- Observe and participate in monitoring the branch cash general ledger accounts under the supervision of the operations officer.
- Learn and understand appropriate internal controls and compliance with all bank’s regulatory requirements.
- Partner with the branch manager to deploy resources that optimize team performance.
- Participate in and host monthly branch security meetings.
- Represent the company in local community organizations, alongside the branch manager.
- Assist the branch manager in monitoring employee activities, assisting with issues, and observing coaching sessions.
- Support the branch manager in maintaining and developing client relationships with existing and new clients.
- Perform other duties as requested/assigned.
Requirements
Skills/Experience/Education
- Minimum preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Currently pursuing an Associate’s degree, required. Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree will also be considered.
- Business majors preferred.
- Be a highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship,” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
