Job Title: Laboratory Technician I (Entry Level)
Join the leader in Environment Testing! Eurofins Environment Testing is offering a full-time entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in starting their career in a laboratory setting. This role is ideal for those passionate about science and comfortable in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
As a Laboratory Technician I, you will support laboratory operations by performing general laboratory methods, techniques, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures. Your responsibilities will include general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.
College degree is not needed for this entry-level position.
Shift & Compensation
- Shift: Full-time, Wednesday – Sunday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Training: Monday – Friday for a couple of weeks.
- Overtime: As needed and required (8-hour shifts may extend to 12 hours during busy seasons).
- Compensation: $17.50 an hour, plus a 15% shift differential effective day 1, totaling $20.13/hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Retrieves samples from Sample Control for analysis.
- Performs sample preparation, which may include, but is not limited to:
- Aliquot samples
- Spike and trace samples
- Prepare reagents
- Bottle samples
- Prepare concentrations
- Separation
- Sonication
- Liquid rack set up
- Resolves discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
- Prepares general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
- Washes laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
- Stocks laboratory supplies.
- Cleans work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assists other laboratory areas as needed.
Required Abilities and Skills
- General knowledge of chemistry and/or general science.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
- Mechanically inclined and enjoys instrument troubleshooting.
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule (potential for 12-hour shifts in busy season).
- Detail-oriented.

Qualifications
- Education: High school Chemistry coursework is a must. Candidates with a BA or BS or without a college degree would excel in this position.
- Experience:
- Basic laboratory experience is helpful.
- Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines).
- Authorization: Must have authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Language: Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
- Physical: Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste.
- Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks.
- Body Positions: Approximately 60% standing (analyzing samples), 10% walking (moving about laboratory), and 30% sitting (computer work, paperwork, analyzing samples). These percentages vary significantly depending on duties. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods of time.
- Body Movements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching when getting samples and performing analyses.
- Sensory: Smelling for unusual odors, leakage, contamination; Conversational hearing and speaking ability; Vision for performing analyses, viewing computer screens, doing paperwork.
- Hand Use: Handling samples, operating instruments, data entry.
