• Mission: To support laboratory operations by performing sample preparation and general maintenance to ensure compliance with quality assurance programs for environmental analysis.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sample Management: Efficiently retrieve environmental samples from Sample Control, ensuring they are ready for immediate analysis.
• Extensive Sample Preparation: Execute a range of sample preparation methods, including aliquoting, spiking, tracing, preparing reagents, bottling, preparing concentrations, performing separation, sonication, and setting up liquid racks.
• Quality Assurance & Labeling: Proactively resolve any discrepancies or anomalies encountered to guarantee samples are properly labeled according to established protocols.
• Record Keeping & Documentation: Accurately prepare general laboratory paperwork, such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, completing bench sheets, and maintaining comprehensive laboratory logbooks.
• Facility & Equipment Upkeep: Perform general maintenance of the laboratory and supply storage areas, clean work areas, stock laboratory supplies, and meticulously wash laboratory glassware for subsequent use, maintaining a safe working environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This early career position requires a strong educational foundation, specifically mandating high school chemistry coursework.
• Experience: While no specific years are required, basic laboratory experience is helpful. Candidates with previous production-oriented work, demonstrating an awareness and ability to meet deadlines, will find this experience beneficial.
• Skills: Possess general knowledge of chemistry and/or general science, basic mathematical skills, and a detail-oriented approach. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with problem-solving abilities and the capacity to multi-task effectively, learn quickly, and work independently within time constraints.
• Bonus: Candidates with or without a college degree (BA or BS) are strongly encouraged to apply.
