The Job: Vehicle Maintenance Technician

As a Vehicle Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for essential vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks, playing a crucial role in preparing our inventory for customers. This position combines technical skills with precise documentation and inventory management.

Responsibilities (Your Next Destination)

  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on inventory vehicles.
  • Conduct emissions testing (state inspections where applicable).
  • Explain automotive repairs and issues clearly to management to minimize re-work and production delays.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all work performed in DriveTime systems.
  • Assist with vehicle movement and inventory management as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to uphold the highest levels of safety and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (The Good Stuff)

  • Must be proficient in basic automotive repair.
  • Ability to meet metric performance targets for efficiency and quality.
  • Capability to learn and operate basic computer systems for documentation and diagnostics.
  • Must be organized and punctual, demonstrating strong time management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workspace.
  • Good communication skills to present findings and share information effectively with leadership.

Requirements (a.k.a. What You Need to Get the Job Done)

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Certificate or Associate’s degree in automotive technology OR work experience equivalent (2 years or more) in automotive repair.
  • License: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
  • Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity for detailed work and repairs.
  • Requires use of safety equipment that may include, but not be limited to, face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments and equipment.
  • Requires some driving and frequent typing for documentation.
  • Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.

Must be able to communicate in English to ensure effective performance of the position in a safety-sensitive/technical environment.
