CNC Machine Operator I | The Gund Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Gund Company, located at one of its manufacturing facilities. The Gund Company is a leader in engineered material solutions, specializing in customized electrical insulation products and manufacturing thermoset composite materials. As a CNC Machine Operator I, you will be crucial in the production process, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and contributing to the delivery of high-quality composite materials.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time
• Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 hourly
• Team: Composites team
• Mission: To play a key role in the manufacturing steps of thermoset composite materials by operating various production equipment.
• Tech Stack: Presses, forming equipment, extrusion equipment, pultrusion equipment, shape machines, hand tools, secondary/accessory equipment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Production: Manufacture molded glass polyester sheets.
• Machine Setup: Select and install machine components, such as dies, spacers, shims, and stops, according to specifications.
• Finishing & Quality: Trim and de-flash molded sheet edges, then perform in-process measuring and material inspections.
• Programming: Set up tooling, load programs, and adjust machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Maintenance: Clean dies and molds using scrapers, brushes, scotch pads, or air hoses.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: Prior hands-on, vocational, or job-related coursework or training in a manufacturing environment.
• Skills: Operating various manufacturing equipment (presses, forming, extrusion, pultrusion, shape machines), material inspection, precision measuring, tooling setup, and basic machine maintenance (cleaning).
• Bonus: Prior experience in a manufacturing industry with mixing, batching, or compounding equipment.
