Cybersecurity Incident Response Intern

We are excited to offer an invaluable internship opportunity within the Xerox Cybersecurity Team (XCS). As an XCS Intern, you will serve as the first line of defense, playing a critical role in safeguarding information systems. This position offers a unique chance to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents, thereby ensuring the utmost confidentiality, integrity, and availability of corporate and customer data.

Purpose of the Role

We are actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Cybersecurity Intern who is eager to gain practical experience in maintaining the security and integrity of global information systems. This role is integral to a team that proactively monitors, detects, and responds to security events, contributing significantly to a vigilant and responsive security posture. The internship provides invaluable experience in:

Scope & Core Responsibilities

As a Cybersecurity Incident Response Intern, your primary focus will involve:

  • Monitoring and investigating security alerts.
  • Applying advanced analysis techniques to security events.
  • Documenting findings meticulously in an event case management system.
  • Collaborating closely with Senior Incident Responders and Cyber Threat Intelligence to ensure timely and effective insights and resolutions for real-world security issues.
  • You will receive comprehensive training covering:
    • Security policies and procedures.
    • Advanced security tools.
    • Threat & attack vector concepts.
    • In-depth analysis techniques.
    • Artifact collection methods.
    • Reporting protocols and other essential skills required for conducting thorough cybersecurity investigations.

  • Investigating actual security events using cutting-edge security tools and technologies across various domains, including endpoint, cloud, email, web application firewalls, and external attack surfaces.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Science.

Preferred Skills

Candidates possessing the following skills will be highly regarded:

  • Basic knowledge of network security tools and firewall analysis techniques to identify anomalies.
  • Foundational knowledge of endpoint detection & response tools and search queries to aid investigations.
  • Foundational knowledge of datacenter environments and cloud infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Exposure to security incident and event management (SIEM) platform capabilities and query formulation.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
