Junior Accountant | Devereux

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Devereux, located in Cherry Hill, NJ, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Devereux is a leading nonprofit organization in behavioral healthcare, providing vital services to children and adults with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive differences. This Junior Accountant position is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the organization by ensuring accurate accounts payable records and efficient transaction processing, directly supporting Devereux’s mission to unlock and nurture human potential.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $34000–$69000 yearly
• Team: Reports directly to the Finance Manager
• Mission: Supports financial accounting operations by maintaining accurate records and processing accounts payable transactions.
• Tech Stack: Financial systems, general ledger coding

What You’ll Actually Do
Contract Review: Reviews and interprets vendor contracts and supporting documentation to ensure invoices comply with agreed terms, billing requirements, and payment conditions.
Invoice Verification: Verifies invoice information, including billing details, coding, payment terms, and supporting documentation prior to processing.
Data Management: Maintains accounts payable data accurately within the financial system.
Account Reconciliation: Reconciles vendor accounts and reviews vendor statements to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Reporting Support: Assists with financial reporting requests, financial data maintenance, spending analysis, and accounting process improvement initiatives within the Finance Department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; OR equivalent professional experience performing accounts payable, accounting support, or financial processing responsibilities.
• Experience: One to three years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, or financial operations.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, excellent customer service, and strong communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience working with financial systems and general ledger coding is desirable.
