Job Description: Power System Apparatus Diagnostics & Training Specialist

OMICRON is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Power System Apparatus Diagnostics & Training Specialist. Essential Job Functions

  • Directly involve yourself with power system apparatus diagnostics, including transformers, switchgear, rotating machines, and ancillary equipment.
  • Provide focused expertise and guidance to the industry and peers on OMICRON Primary test instruments and their applications.
  • Conduct customer visits to maintain strong customer relations and contribute to increased revenues.
  • Deliver comprehensive product consultation and training on electrical theory and diagnostic methods. This includes application, data analysis, power system apparatus evaluation, and report generation for our customer base. Topics will cover, but are not limited to:
    • Power Factor (PF)
    • Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)
    • Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA)
    • Dielectric Frequency Response Analysis (DFR)
    • Partial Discharge (PD)
  • Coordinate all technical issues with OMICRON’s customers, sales representatives, and distributors.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems to provide effective customer and sales support.
  • Offer input on new products, product strategies, development, and application needs.
  • Manage and develop application notes and technical papers, including presentations at relevant seminars/conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated interest in power systems, substations, generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power.
  • Excellent writing, teaching, and presentation skills are mandatory.
  • Possession of reputable business and work ethics & personal character.
  • A strong focus on long-term strategy, planning, and goal orientation.
  • Ability to think creatively, innovate, and provide solutions as a collaborative team member.
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of large objects more than 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Substation knowledge is a plus.
  • Internship experience is a plus.
  • Proven educational, work, and activity history.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
