What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide personalized, one-on-one online instruction to individual students in graduate-level statistics.
• Prepare students for advanced research methodology and doctoral-level statistical analysis.
• Guide students through complex tasks such as designing experiments, performing multivariate analysis, and implementing statistical models in software.
• Explain challenging theoretical foundations including asymptotic theory, the Neyman-Pearson lemma, and generalized linear models.
• Adapt instructional approaches and materials using statistical computing tools like R or Python, research papers, and proof-based exercises.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate-level understanding and deep knowledge of mathematical statistics, including maximum likelihood estimation, sufficient statistics, hypothesis testing theory, Bayesian inference, regression analysis, multivariate methods, experimental design, and nonparametric statistics.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to break down complex concepts like likelihood function derivations, posterior distribution calculations, and ANOVA decompositions, with familiarity in applying statistical models in software.
• Skills: Advanced subject mastery in various statistical theories and applications; conceptual teaching and problem-solving abilities; strong awareness of graduate statistics curricula and common student challenges; effective communication and an engaging teaching style.
