What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver personalized, in-depth philosophy instruction to individual students online.
• Support: Provide immediate assistance to students by accepting on-demand tutoring requests when available.
• Enhance: Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot for real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features.
• Guide: Lead students through philosophical argument analysis, logical reasoning, and effective essay construction.
• Cultivate: Foster critical thinking skills and help students connect philosophical concepts to real-world applications in various fields.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge across core philosophical domains including epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, logic, philosophy of mind, political philosophy, aesthetics, and the history of philosophy from ancient to contemporary figures.
• Experience: Proven skill in teaching philosophical argument analysis, logical reasoning, and effective essay construction. Adept at guiding students through evaluating the validity and soundness of arguments and analyzing thought experiments.
• Skills: Ability to effectively explain foundational concepts such as the Socratic method, deductive and inductive reasoning, and major ethical frameworks. Strong capacity to adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles with excellent communication skills and an engaging teaching approach.
• Bonus: Capacity to prepare students for advanced philosophy coursework and support graduate study aspirations. Familiarity with philosophy curricula from introductory through advanced levels, including common student challenges.
