This role is crucial for supporting thousands of students nationwide, significantly impacting their academic success and understanding, fostering improved academic outcomes, and nurturing a passion for learning.

• Mission: Provide personalized phonics instruction to help students achieve learning goals and develop reading and spelling skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide personalized 1-on-1 instruction to individual students online.
• Accept on-demand Instant Tutoring requests whenever available.
• Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to enhance sessions with real-time instructional support and lesson generation.
• Invoice for completed tutoring sessions to ensure prompt compensation.
• Guide students through sound-symbol relationships, blending skills, and word attack strategies using systematic, explicit instruction.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in phonics principles for students from pre-kindergarten through elementary levels.
• Experience: Proficiency in preparing beginning readers for fluent, independent reading and spelling development. Familiarity with systematic phonics programs and “science of reading” research.
• Skills:
• Deep knowledge of letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, blending, segmenting, digraphs, diphthongs, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, syllable types, and decoding strategies.
• Ability to explain the alphabetic principle, phoneme manipulation, and systematic phonics progressions.
• Skill in explaining material using multiple approaches and adapting instruction to individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and an engaging teaching style.
