The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the Auburn Police Department (APD), located in Auburn, WA. The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Auburn, WA
• Pay: $9,032.20 per month
• Team: Part of a 150-staff department, including Chief, Assistant Chief, Commanders, Sergeants, Officers/Detectives, and non-commissioned staff.
• Mission: Perform general police work to protect life and property, enforce laws, maintain order, and investigate crimes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Respond: Respond to diverse emergency and non-emergency calls for service within the community.
• Patrol: Patrol assigned areas to deter criminal activity and ensure a visible public safety presence.
• Investigate: Conduct investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and make arrests when legally warranted.
• Document: Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports, logs, and essential documentation.
• Intervene: Address critical community issues, including domestic disputes, juvenile matters, and crisis situations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED); be a United States citizen, lawful permanent resident, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient; be at least 20.5 years of age at the time of application and 21 years of age by your appointment date.
• Experience: Possess a valid driver’s license without impending loss (obtain WA State driver’s license within 30 days if from out of state); demonstrate the ability to fluently read and write the English language with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Skills: Ability to meet all Civil Service Rules and Regulations’ physical requirements; perform physically demanding tasks including pursuing suspects; communicate effectively orally and in writing; maintain professionalism in stressful or hostile situations; exercise independent discretion in emergencies; act without direct supervision; provide tactful and courteous public interaction. If hired, you must successfully complete the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, qualify quarterly for firearms, obtain annual First Aid/CPR certification, and obtain and maintain BAC verifier and Access certifications.
• If Selected: Successfully complete and pass a thorough background investigation, Chief’s interview, and pre-employment physical examination.
