Firefighter | Citrus County Fire Rescue
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Citrus County Fire Rescue, supporting the comprehensive Countywide Fire Rescue and Emergency Services program. Firefighters are critical responders, performing technical work in emergency response. This includes the prevention, control, and suppression of fires, providing emergency medical care, and responding to natural and human-made disasters. This position directly contributes to the safety and well-being of the Citrus County community.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Readiness: Maintain operational readiness by routinely inspecting and testing equipment, supplies, and personal protection gear at the station.
• Prevention: Conduct fire prevention activities, including pre-incident planning and inspecting fire hydrants within the service area.
• Response: Execute emergency operations by responding to 9-1-1 calls for medical and fire emergencies, performing extrications, stabilizing victims, and providing basic life support and CPR.
• Documentation: Complete administrative tasks such as documenting calls, entering data, recording patient conditions, and conducting post-incident analysis for quality assurance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years of age upon appointment. Must reside within 20 miles of a Citrus County Fire Station.
• Experience: Valid Certification as a State of Florida Firefighter I and current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Skills: Requires a valid Florida Driver License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of Florida residency). Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, and maintain effective relations with county staff, officials, and the public.
• Bonus: Ability to obtain within 90 days: FEMA NIMS certifications IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b, and IS-800.c.
