Otsuka’s internship program, Intern the Otsuka Way (InTOW), offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop critical skills while contributing to meaningful projects. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about the complexities of the pharmaceutical industry, and gain insights into potential career paths. By combining practical experience with professional development, our program prepares interns for future success. Our internship program also includes instructor-led trainings, a leadership engagement series, as well as insightful lunch and learns.

Job Description: Data Governance & Data Integrity Intern
The Data Governance & Data Integrity Intern will play a key role in accelerating foundational data integrity initiatives. Operating within a structured, consulting-style mentorship model, the intern will support a current-state assessment of Data Integrity, Data Governance, and Advanced Data Analytics (Automation / AI) across Global Quality pillars and GxP cross-functional areas. This role offers exposure to enterprise-level quality systems, regulatory-driven data practices, and strategic decision-making within a life sciences environment. By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Develop practical knowledge of Data Governance, Data Integrity, and Advanced Data Analytics within Global Quality organizations.
- Gain exposure to organizational change management and consulting methodologies.
- Build understanding of life sciences domain processes and GxP regulations.
- Strengthen stakeholder engagement, communication, and professional consulting skills.
- Understand how enterprise data governance enables regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and advanced quality insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Support current-state Data Governance and Data Integrity assessment across Global Quality (GQ) pillars and GxP cross-functional areas.
- Develop an understanding of:
- Global Quality (GQ) pillar services and operating models
- GxP cross-functional areas and workflows
- Data Lifecycle, Data classifications, data ownership, and stewardship models
- Key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics
- Feasibility of developing AI/ML use cases for Advanced Data Analytics
- Business and quality decisions enabled by critical data assets
- Gather, organize, and analyze information related to data lifecycle, data flows, data usage, and data governance practices from designated GQ Pillar POCs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Global Quality and other functions to document current-state capabilities and gaps.
- Support development of assessment deliverables, including summaries, visualizations, and recommendations.
- Apply consulting-style problem-solving approaches to identify opportunities for process improvement and maturity advancement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate student graduating in the next 12-18 months pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML, Gen AI, Agentic AI, and data analytics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
- Can commit to full duration of internship program.
