Your Opportunity as a Financial Planning Intern

As an intern at EP Wealth Advisors, you will embark on a hands-on journey within the dynamic financial planning industry. You will work closely alongside a dedicated team of client-focused professionals, including the Financial Planning Manager, Financial Planning Associate Director, and Financial Planning Director. What You’ll Do as a Financial Planning Intern

Client Work:

  • Contribute to the development of straightforward financial plans for clients with assets under management ranging from $1MM to $2MM.
  • Manage and maintain the EP Financial Planning process, which includes meticulously reviewing client data, accurately inputting financial plans, and creating comprehensive assumptions/agenda pages.
  • Assist in generating various financial scenarios and conducting thorough internal reviews with the Financial Planning team and advisors prior to client meetings.
  • Prepare detailed action plans and reports, and ensure the secure upload of relevant documents to the client vault.
  • Organize and manage files effectively in Egnyte and on clients’ Personal Financial Websites.
  • Provide support to clients in setting up and maintaining their Personal Financial Websites, including troubleshooting any connection issues.
  • Assist advisors in the implementation of action plans, which involves analyzing tax planning projections, optimizing social security strategies, and reviewing property & casualty insurance.

Analysis and Research:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial trends and forecasts, providing well-researched recommendations for optimization.
  • Perform ongoing research as specifically required by the Director of Financial Planning.
  • Present a Research Project: As a cornerstone of this internship, you will research a relevant financial planning topic, meticulously prepare your findings, and present your project to the team. This endeavor will provide you with an unparalleled opportunity to deepen your understanding of a particular area in financial planning, while also honing your presentation and defense skills.

Administrative Support:

  • Adhere strictly to company policies, ensuring unwavering consistency, quality, and compliance in all tasks performed.
  • Attend crucial Wealth Management Services and Financial Planning meetings, and meet with various departments to gain invaluable insights into diverse fields and to actively build your professional network.

Miscellaneous:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Financial Planning Manager and other team members, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.

What You’ll Have (Qualifications)

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

  • Near completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A genuine interest in financial planning and wealth management.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, ideally evidenced by relevant coursework.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a BA/BS program; preference will be given to rising juniors and seniors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong client-service orientation and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost appropriateness.
  • A high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and meet competing deadlines consistently.
